After a delay due to the now familiar daily storm in Sydney, Burbero has given trainer Bjorn Baker a winning double.
In winning Saturday's Phillip Hughes Memorial, Burbero denied trainer Kim Waugh and husband Mark an emotional victory with Forget who hit the front only for his rival to kick back.
Mark Waugh is an Australian cricket selector and it has been a tough week for his sport with the funeral of Hughes whose death from a catastrophic brain injury after being hit by a ball has affected all Australians.
Apprentice Brodie Loy, who rode the winner, paid his own tribute to Hughes.
"He was a champion," Loy said.
"It doesn't matter what sport you are in, it affects us all."
Earlier Baker won with Off the Rails but he admitted Burbero's victory at $31 was special.
"I still haven't worked him out. He is hard to catch," he said.
"We were going to sell him but we realised we wouldn't get anything for him so we kept him in the hope we could get another win with him."
