Soldi Domani makes triumphant Qld return

Saturday 13 December 2014, 5:30pm

The decision to terminate a Melbourne campaign with three-year-old Soldi Domani paid dividends at Doomben on Saturday.

Soldi Domani ($6) lived up to his impressive first up fourth when he beat the favourite She's Miss Divine ($2.40) by 2-1/4 lengths in the Listed Gold Edition Plate.

Trainer Bryan Dais took Soldi Domani to Melbourne in the spring with the Group One Caulfield Guineas as his aim.

"He was well beaten in the Guineas Prelude and it was obvious he was going to struggle to run the 1600 metres of the Guineas," Dais said.

"We immediately decided to bring him home and set him for this race and the Vo Rogue Plate (on December 27)." He said Soldi Domani was not eligible for the Magic Millions series of races and would spell after the Vo Rogue Plate.

Winning jockey Larry Cassidy made it two black-type wins for the day after earlier winning the Calaway Gal Stakes on Flamenco.

"It is easy to ride winners when you are on class horses such as him," Cassidy said.

Meanwhile, Kiwi mare Tarloshan earned herself an extended stay in Queensland with her win in the Listed Just Now Handicap (1350m).

Tarloshan had been unlucky at her previous start in Brisbane two weeks ago and trainer Graeme Boyd is confident she is up to top company.

"I am keen to start her over 2000 metres but I think the 1600 metres of the Bernborough Handicap in Toowoomba on New Year's Eve will suit her," Boyd said.

Tarloshan had been campaigning in NSW before Boyd decided to chase black-type with her in Queensland.

Boyd, who has based himself on the Gold Coast for a couple of months, had previous success in Queensland with Ginga Dude who won the 2012 Tattersall's Cup.

The win was the biggest for international jockey Robbie Fradd since he moved to Queensland in August.

"She had no luck last start and when the rain came I was even more confident," Fradd said.
