Eurell-trained filly ready for Mornington

Greg Eurell has seen enough from unraced filly Dabbleoncoomoora to believe she is capable of making an impact on debut at Mornington.

The three-year-old daughter of Volitant steps out in Wednesday's Birrell Motors Group Plate (1000m) at the metropolitan meeting with top jockey Craig Williams to ride.

Dabbleoncoomoora has had two public barrier trials at Cranbourne including a 2-1/4-length victory in her most recent outing on November 24.

"She's certainly shown that she's got a bit of ability, this girl," Eurell said.

"It will be good to get her up and running.

"It's not maiden grade tomorrow but she has certainly shown us ability and I think she'll make her presence felt for sure."

Dabbleoncoomoora started out with Jim Mason but when he closed his stable earlier this year to join Eurell's team, the filly was one of the horses that also made the move.

Eurell said Dabbleoncoomoora was due to kick off her career a couple of weeks ago but her blood picture wasn't quite right and he delayed her debut.

"Craig was booked to ride her then and he was happy enough to stick with her and jump on her tomorrow," Eurell said.

The trainer said the filly enjoyed her work and loved to run.

"Her last trial was good and she leads into the race well," he said.

The Melbourne Racing Club has announced jockeys will wear black arms in the race, the opening event on the card, as a mark of respect for multiple Group One winning trainer Ross McDonald who died on Tuesday.

McDonald's son and fellow trainer Clinton McDonald has Belle Melba in the race, a filly which scored by six lengths on debut at Warrnambool earlier this month.

"It's always sad to lose someone in the industry that you've known and respect," Eurell said of Ross McDonald.
