An impressive barrier trial win by three-year-old Yeager has erased memories of his last-start failure.
Yeager is rated a future top line miler but was never in the hunt when last in a Doomben 1350m race on December 6.
The gelding will be one of three Tony Gollan-trained runners in the Group Three Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) on Saturday on the way to the $1 million Magic Million Guineas (1400m) two weeks later.
Since his last raceday outing, Yeager has won a 1200m Deagon trial and trainer Tony Gollan believes punters can use that as a guide.
"I don't think he handled the wet track at all around Doomben last time," Gollan said.
"I was pleased with the trial win and he has pleased me again since."
"The big worry is the weather. I don't want too much rain for him."
Gollan is also worried about rain for another of his Vo Rogue entrants, Fixation.
"He has finally drawn a good barrier and I expect him to go a lot better on Saturday. But again I don't want too much rain for him," he said."
Brisbane's premier trainer has no such worries for his third Vo Rogue entrant, Hijack Hussy, who is the race favourite.
"She is a very good wet track horse but equally good in the dry," Gollan said.
"At least I also know she will handle the Gold Coast as her best win was probably there before she went to Melbourne and won in the spring."
"The only worry I have with her is the barrier (11) but she has shown she can go back in the field and get home quickly."
Gollan is hoping his three-pronged attack can end a frustrating run of minor placings in the summer feature races after Someday (George Moore Stakes) and Whiskey Allround (Lough Neagh Stakes) both finished second to Big Money.
Meanwhile, smart three year old Soldi Domani will be having his summer grand final in the Vo Rogue.
Soldi Domani is not eligible for the Magic Millions and trainer Bryan Dais targeted the Vo Rogue as the colt's summer mission.
Autumn and winter features including the Group Two Arrowfield Sprint in Sydney and the Stradbroke Handicap at Doomben will be his aims.
