Jacquinot Bay continues his winning way

Saturday 10 January 2015, 5:49pm

Country life is suiting Jacquinot Bay who landed back-to-back city wins at Flemington on Saturday.

A winner of the Lord Stakes at Sandown on Boxing Day, Jacquinot Bay was impressive in taking out the Comedy King Handicap.

Ridden by Craig Williams, Jacquinot Bay ($7) scored by 1-1/2 lengths from Akzar ($9.50) with Mighty Like ($4.60) 2-1/2 lengths away third.

Trainer Tom Dabernig said Jacquinot Bay spends his time at Lindsay Park at Euroa between runs.

"We get him to the farm in between races and he does surprisingly little work," said Dabernig.

"He does his water walking and goes to the paddock.

"He gets ridden every day but doesn't do a lot of galloping."

Dabernig said the Canberra Cup in March was being considered but with the length of his campaign he is now becoming a race-by-race proposition.

Williams said Jacquinot Bay breaking through at Sandown on Boxing Day had given the gelding the confidence.

"He went up three kilos from last time and he was still solid and with Akzar running second I think it will be a good form race," Williams said.
