James Innes to reunite with his old boss

Tuesday 20 January 2015, 3:39pm

A week after joining the powerful Godolphin stable, apprentice James Innes reunites with his old boss aboard We Are Young at Warwick Farm.

We Are Young lines up Wednesday's tab.com.au (1400m) for Canberra trainer Keith Dryden who hopes Innes can repeat his win on the gelding three starts back.

"I'm hoping James can get one for the old boss occasionally," Dryden said.

"Being at Godolphin is a big opportunity for James and I hope he kicks a goal.

"He is a really good apprentice to have around the stable. There's no rubbish in him and I'm sure he'll do well."

It will be a homecoming for We Are Young who was formerly with Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride who thought he might be better suited to racing out of town.

"The owner wants to give him another try in town and this looks like a good race for him especially with the three-kilo claim bringing him in with 51-1/2 kilos," Dryden said.

"He won at Canberra with James on and his past two runs have been OK."

We Are Young ran third over 1400 metres at Kembla Grange before his fourth over 1600m at Canberra last Thursday week.

Dryden also entered him for a 1550m race at Canterbury on Monday but said the Warwick Farm 1400m looked more suitable.

"I think a mile is beyond him and the Canterbury race doesn't look easy," he said.

Among the other apprentices riding at Warwick Farm is Daniel Muscutt who is visiting from England.

He is spending time in the Chris Waller stable where his father Peter is the trainer's assistant.

Muscutt has had nine rides so far in Australia recording a win and three placings on provincial tracks.
