Bougoure hoping for sweet run from Melody

A Melbourne campaign is possible for well-bred filly Egyptian Melody if she races well on Saturday.

Egyptian Melody will be having her first start in the Racing Retro Two Year Old (1110m) at Doomben.

The filly has not trialled officially but has had a jump out in the lead up to Saturday's race.

She was originally scheduled to make her debut in October but trainer Dan Bougoure decided to give her more time to mature.

Bougoure has been pleased with the filly who has been installed favourite in most pre post betting markets.

"She went okay in the jump-out but and we have a bit of an opinion of her," Bougure said.

"If she goes OK we might take her down to Melbourne for the autumn."

Egyptian Melody is by Exceed and Excel, whose son Le Chef won the recent Magic Millions Classic, out of American bred mare Sherine.

She is raced by Bougoure's biggest owner Steve Gilliard who also has the 2014 Magic Millions Classic runner up Oakleigh Girl, a winner at the 2013 Melbourne Spring carnival.

Group One-winning jockey Damian Browne will ride Egyptian Melody and Bougoure is confident he will suit the filly. Meanwhile, Bougoure will plot the course for his recent stable acquisition Anna Lizzie after she runs in the Ashgrove Cricket Club Open (1600m).

Anna Lizzie was transferred to Bougoure in late July and she had a spell before being put back in work.

She ran second first up in the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares Quality two weeks ago.

"Unfortunately she drew the outside barrier and had no luck. But it was a very good run and she has won second up," Bougoure said.

Anna Lizzie could be set for the fillies and mares series to be run in south east Queensland in coming months.

"But if she measures up we might look for something a bit better in the winter."

Anna Lizzie has won twice on soft tracks and Bougoure isn't worried about predicted heavy rain at the weekend.
