The recent hot weather has prompted trainer Robbie Laing to concentrate solely on Melbourne racing this weekend.

Laing accepted with runners in Adelaide and Sydney on Saturday but has decided to keep them at home.

"With it being so hot I ended up pulling the pin on all the interstate trips," Laing said.

"I've had a bit of experience with horses dehydrating on a hot night going across the border so they're all staying home."

Two-year-old Kentucky Flyer was due to make his debut in the opening race at Randwick but will instead contest the colts and geldings division of the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Sandown on Monday.

Kentucky Flyer will be one of three runners in the race for Laing who will also saddle up three fillies in the female division of the Blue Diamond Preview.

Laing said he has intended to take Kentucky Flyer to Sydney as a warm-up for the 2015 Inglis Classic (1200m) at Rosehill on February 7.

A $30,000 yearling, Kentucky Flyer will be joined by Trench Fighter and Eagles Dare who are heading towards the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28.

Laing believes Kentucky Flyer will benefit from Monday's hitout and could develop into a smart three-year-old.

"He trialled terrific at Sandown last Tuesday week," Laing said.

"He was a bit green at the start, sat back then ran on to finish second.

"He's a big rangy colt who will have no problems getting over more distance and I expect big things from him in the spring when he gets out over further than a mile."

Boomgal, who lines-up in the fillies division on Monday, is also likely to head to Sydney for the Inglis Classic after contesting her race in which she will be joined by Stylemaker and Little Indian.

The three fillies all raced during the spring and Laing said by the time they had reached their respective races they had had long campaigns and come to the end of their tether.
