Kris Lees suspects dual Group One winner Lucia Valentina is not the only star he is taking to Randwick on Saturday.
The Newcastle trainer has a high opinion of lightly raced filly Onemorezeta and won't be surprised to see her measure up against the country's best three-year-old fillies in the Light Fingers Stakes.
Onemorezeta provided an insight to her potential during an unbeaten spring campaign when she progressed from a maiden race at Muswellbrook to a Group Three during the Melbourne Cup carnival.
Lees admits it takes a special horse to make such a transition so quickly.
Just how special, he's not yet sure.
"A filly like that, when they're on the up, you don't know where they're going to plateau but she seems to have improved from last prep to now," Lees said.
"She's probably the one I feel has made the most improvement from spring to autumn."
Lees's anticipation is tempered by the quality of Onemorezeta's rivals.
The filly faces a Group Two field boasting Group One winners Mossfun, First Seal, Peggy Jean and Amicus.
"She finds a really proper race. It will be a good guide to where she's at," Lees said.
Chris Waller is also keen to get a better autumn gauge on Thousand Guineas winner Amicus, scratched from the Kevin Hayes Stakes in Melbourne to run at Randwick, and Winx who beat all but First Seal in the Tea Rose and Flight Stakes.
"Her first couple of runs will tell me if she's the real deal this preparation or she still might take a bit more time," Waller said of Winx.
"We could have taken the easy option with both fillies (and run in Melbourne) but Sydney's our home base so we'll get them going here and they'll find their mark."
