Connections of Band On The Run have decided to head back to Tasmania to chase a black type victory rather than run in the Talindert Stakes.
Band On The Run was a $31 chance in the Talindert (1100m) but will instead run in the Gold Sovereign Stakes (1200m) at Launceston on Wednesday.
Trainer Shane Nichols believes the Tasmanian option gives the filly her best chance of a Listed win.
Band On The Run was a debut seventh behind Fontiton in the Blue Diamond Preview at Sandown on January 26 before finishing second to Gee Gees Top Notch in the Listed Elwick Stakes at Hobart on February 9.
"I felt she was going pretty good first-up and I think that's about where she sits, three to four lengths off Fontiton," Nichols said.
"We didn't think there was much point running fifth, sixth or seventh at Flemington so instead we'll try and get a result and win the race at Launceston."
The Talindert Stakes has been a strong betting race with two first starters - Vicious and Stay With Me - well supported.
Prepared by Hawkes Racing, Vicious has firmed from $7.50 to $4.40 favouritism while Stay With Me, a daughter of five-time Group One winner Miss Finland, has shortened from $7.50 to $4.60.
