Wandjina will attempt to better his placing in the Caulfield Guineas when he contests the Australian Guineas after making a winning return to racing at Flemington on Saturday.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt took up the running in the the CS Hayes Stakes and gave an impressive kick when challenged to fend off Perth galloper Disposition and Stratum Star.
Wandjina will now attempt to become the first horse since Dash For Cash in 2002 to complete the CS Hayes Stakes-Australian Guineas double.
"He spelled down here and has been prepared in the Melbourne stable with the main aim being the Australian Guineas," Waterhouse's racing manager Adrian Bott said.
Wanjina has moved to the third line of Guineas betting at $8 with Kermadec firming to $5 favourite with his third in the Hobartville Stakes, while Disposition is at $7.
The colt's spring campaign culminated with an unplaced run in the Cox Plate but jockey Damien Oliver said the colt had come back well.
"When the West Australian horse came at him I thought he was going to have to be pretty tough to fight him off but he was able to," Oliver said.
Disposition was having his first start for new trainer Wez Hunter and he is confident of turning the tables in the Guineas when he will meet Wandjina 2.5kg better.
Lucky Liberty lost his chance at the start when he started buck-jumping which jockey Michelle Payne said was caused by the saddle shifting when the gates opened.
He tacked on to the back of the field and started to work into the race before finishing 11th.
