Trainer John Luttrell is confident he has star Tasmanian galloper Geegees Blackflash in top order as the gelding prepares to contest a fifth Launceston Cup.
A veteran of 63 starts, all of them in Tasmania, Geegees Blackflash has 22 victories to his name and has collected more than $1.16 million prize money.
He comes into Wednesday's race as a last-start winner of the Hobart Cup on February 9.
The son of Clangalang has 60.5kg, the biggest weight he has been asked to carry in the race which he won in 2013.
The horse has filled minor placings in the Launceston Cup at his other three attempts.
Apprentice Sigrid Carr, who guided the eight-year-old to victory at Hobart, again has the mount.
Luttrell isn't concerned by the extra weight and believes Geegees Blackflash will be hard to beat provided he gets a good run throughout the race.
"He's always been a good weight carrier," Luttrell said.
"I don't think the weight will worry him too much as he's won with 64 (kilograms) a couple of times.
"If the track's got a little bit of give in it and he gets a good run through the race then he'll be hard to beat."
Luttrell said Geegees Blackflash had been mixing trackwork gallops with beach work since the Hobart victory and had enjoyed a faultless preparation.
He also believed the quality of opposition at Launceston was similar to that Geegee's Blackflash beat at Hobart.
"I'm pretty confident," he said.
"I can't fault him. He's in real good order and it's certainly no tougher than Hobart."
Geegees Blackflash shares top billing at $3.60 with Genuine Lad who will be partnered by last year's Launceston Cup-winning jockey Craig Williams.
Only two mainland gallopers will contest this year's race, the Tony McEvoy-trained Pelicano, a $7.50 chance, and the Mike Moroney prepared Garud who is currently $9.50 in betting.
