Disqualified trainer Mark Riley has lost his bid to postpone the removal of leading contender Of The Brave from his stables, ahead of Saturday's Group One Blue Diamond Stakes.
Riley was on Monday banned for three years by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board after being found guilty of the administration of bi-carb to a different horse in his stable.
Stewards have ordered Of The Brave to be transferred to another trainer by 10am on Wednesday if the two-year-old colt is to run in Saturday's Group One race.
Lawyers for Riley asked Victorian Supreme Court Justice Stephen Kaye to postpone the removal until Friday, when Riley will appeal his disqualification in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Justice Kaye accepted Of The Brave's preparation for the race may be hindered if moved, but rejected the application.
The court did not have the jurisdiction to intervene, he said.
Stewards said they had set the time frame for the transfer of Of The Brave and Lucky Paddy, who is also nominated to race on Saturday, to ensure that punters and betting operators are given appropriate notice of who the trainer of the horse will be.
They also rejected an application for Riley's employee Logan McGill to take over the training of those two horses.
