CHIPPING NORTON STAKES

HISTORY

* First run in 1925 when won by Wallace Mortlake

* Tie The Knot won the race four years in a row from 1999-2002

* Other winners include: Phar Lap (1930), Bernborough (1946), Comic Court (1951), Delta (1952), Sky High (1962), Rain Lover (1969), Gay Icarus (1971), Emancipation (1984), Our Waverley Star (1987), Octagonal (1997) and Lonhro (2003)

TALKING POINTS

* Trainer Chris Waller chasing five successive wins in the race with eight runners

* The Waller-trained Boban returns after beating outstanding New Zealander It's A Dundeel last year

* The Apollo Stakes key lead-up supplying eight of the past 12 winners

PATTERN

* Ninth Legion and Weary went forward in the Apollo and filled the minor placings. They should race on-speed again. Contributer looks to get a trail from top draw. Tactics will be interesting on He's Your Man from barrier 15.

FANCIED RUNNERS

* Punters unable to go past Contributer who was dominant against a similar field in the Apollo. Lucia Valentina is second pick but mares have a poor Chipping Norton record.
