Jockey Barry Geraghty is bullish about Sprinter Sacre who he says will strip a good deal fitter at Cheltenham than he was for his comeback second at Ascot.
Trainer Nicky Henderson is trying to nurse the nine-year-old back to something like the form he was in to win the 2013 Queen Mother Champion Chase by 19 lengths.
He is the 3-1 favourite this year and although Sprinter Sacre has lost his aura of invincibility, Geraghty feels the engine is still intact ahead of another tilt at the famous race.
"He schooled really well Friday morning, he felt great and looks a picture," Geraghty, twice the leading jockey at the Cheltenham meeting, told At The Races.
"He didn't look as well at Ascot as he does now.
"That was his first competitive race for 20 months so he was entitled to get a bit tired and his jumping was a little bit rusty.
"He pinged the second last and kept himself competitive but he was running on empty.
"I'd say he'll be a good bit better than he was at Ascot."
