When it comes to jockeys, trainer Clarry Conners is a noted hard marker but Brad Rawiller can buck the trend.
On the recommendation of Rawiller, Queen Of Wands runs in the Group Two VRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.
Also at the behest of Rawiller who rode Queen Of Wands to win at Sandown in February 25, Damian Lane will partner the filly.
"I don't usually take the advice of jockeys," Conners said.
"But Brad Rawiller told me she should go on to the Sires. He can't ride at the weight (54.5kg) so he recommended Damian Lane.
"She is only a little filly but she has done terribly well in Melbourne."
At $6.50, Queen Of Wands is one of the favoured runners in the two-year-old race with Manhattan Blues ($3.20) holding sway on Friday.
Conners sent Queen Of Wands south from Sydney in early January hoping to get her to the Blue Diamond Stakes.
She is stabled with his trainer son Heath at Geelong. The filly finished out of the placings the Blue Diamond lead-up races and was switched to midweek company at Sandown.
On the same day, Heath Conners won a race on the Sandown program while his brother Marc trained a winner at Rosehill.
Conners is a proud father, but if Queen Of Wands it will be in his name.
"Heath has done a terrific job with the filly," Conners said.
"We will split the prize money but I'll take the Group Two win."
