A return to her home state combined with some gear changes have hardy mare Britaila Kate poised to score back-to-back wins for the first time in her career.
Britaila Kate has been a great money-spinner for owner Marlene Cook with five wins and 15 placings from her 36 starts.
Britaila Kate takes on a smart field in the SRT Handicap (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday and trainer Kelly Doughty is confident she will be competitive.
Doughty won four races with Britaila Kate before the Jet Spur mare was transferred to the Sydney stable of Chris Waller in 2014.
She had 17 starts for Waller without winning but managed eight minor placings.
Britaila Kate returned to Doughty's Gold Coast base last month and was immediately back in the winner's circle with a Sunshine Coast victory on March 11.
"We decided to take off most of her race day gear and just left the pacifiers on her," Doughty said.
"She did want to get her head on the side in the straight but that is the way she races."
Britaila Kate is being set for a metropolitan-standard fillies and mares race over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast on Easter Sunday.
Meanwhile, Doughty will back up handy galloper Flamboyer in the Hughes Equipment Hire Handicap (1350m) after his unlucky second at the Gold Coast last Saturday.
"He probably should have won last Saturday in a $150,000 Plate race. This is a easier and we have got Damian Browne to ride him," Doughty said.
