Kris Lees is certain he has timed Caulfield Cup placegetter Lucia Valentina's autumn campaign to bring out her best in the Ranvet Stakes.
"It was always our intention to have her peaking for her third and fourth run, being the Ranvet and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes," Lees said.
Lucia Valentina didn't figure in the Chipping Norton Stakes but her results from her third run into a preparation are faultless.
They include Group One wins in the Vinery Stud Stakes and the Turnbull Stakes.
"She's been strong in a couple of gallops since her last start so I think she's on track," Lees said.
Lucia Valentina caught the eye behind Contributer in the Apollo Stakes before her midfield finish to the Godolphin import in the Chipping Norton.
"Form suggests second-up is her worst run and she was OK (in the Chipping Norton) without a flashing light," Lees said.
"She's trained on nicely. I think she'll race very well."
Contributer is the $2.30 favourite for the Ranvet, one of five Group One races at Rosehill on Saturday.
Japanese horse Tosen Stardom has firmed from $8 to $5 with Epsom Handicap winner He's Your Man also at $5.
Last year's winner Silent Achiever is at $5.50 ahead of Lucia Valentina at $6.50.
Lees ackowledged it is a star-studded line-up but says he won't be shocked if Lucia Valentina managed to win.
He believes the small field suits Lucia Valentina with the mare expected to be able to be close enough to strike if good enough.
"She gets back regardless and she's got a good turn of foot. The less traffic the better for her," Lees said.
