A day before he saddles up his first Golden Slipper runner, trainer Nick Olive has sent Without A Shadow out at Goulburn to qualify for the $300,000 Country Championship final.
Without A Shadow ($5) beat Just A Blur ($6) in Friday's heat by three-quarters of a length with both horses cementing spots in the final at Randwick on April 4.
Just A Blur is trained by Barbara Joseph and her son Paul Jones.
The $4.20 favourite Royal Jackpot finished fourth.
Olive was thrilled by the performance of Without A Shadow.
"She's a little ripper," Olive told Sky Racing World.
"I set her for this race ever since she got beat in the Snake Gully Cup last year."
Olive heads to Rosehill on Saturday with Single Gaze, an outsider in the $3.5 million Slipper to be ridden by Kathy O'Hara.
Single Gaze has not missed a cheque in her four starts and finished second in her lead-up in the Black Opal on her home track.
In the other Country Championship heat held on Friday, Redwolf caused an upset at Grafton for local trainer Alan Ryan, beating Voltaire Lumiere who also heads to Sydney for Ballina-based Stephen Lee.
Ryan's former apprentice Matthew McGuren is now making his mark in Brisbane racing but returned to partner Redwolf who led all the way.
Redwolf ($21) had half a length to spare in Voltaire Lumiere ridden by Cassandra Schmidt.
The next qualifying heat for the Country series is at Dubbo on Sunday.
