McCoy wants to leave on a high

Sunday 22 March 2015, 10:46am

A Grand National win would be the fitting finale for champion jumps jockey Tony McCoy.

The winner of 19 British championships is on his way to a 20th title in his last season of riding after announcing he would retire this year.

He has not nominated a retirement date but says a second Grand National win on April 11 would be defining.

McCoy is likely to ride the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Shutthefrontdoor although Cheltenham Festival winner Cause Of Causes, also owned by JP McManus, is also a contender.

"I think I'll probably stop there and then," McCoy told Channel 4 when asked about the National.

"I think it will probably be the right thing to do."
