Royal Ascot remains the next target for Newmarket Handicap winner Brazen Beau with his owners to resist the temptation of the TJ Smith Stakes.
Grant Morgan, the principal of Ontrack Thoroughbreds which races the colt, admitted the $2.5 million sprint on Saturday week was enticing but the consensus was to stick to the script.
After Brazen Beau won the Coolmore Stud Stakes in November prompting a multi-million dollar stud deal with Sheikh Mohammed's Darley, the plan was to run in the Lightning and Newmarket then head to England.
The Chris Waller-trained three-year-old ran second to Lankan Rupee in the Lightning before he won the Newmarket, beating Chautauqua and Terravista.
"The TJ Smith was certainly tempting after the way he won the Newmarket," Morgan said.
"But we had set out a plan even before Darley became involved which was two autumn starts and then Royal Ascot in June.
"The program was mapped out for straight racing at which he excels. He hasn't been around a turn this preparation and the straight sprints in England appeal.
"We also had to think about the possibility of a wet track in the TJ Smith which he doesn't like.
"He will have another week in the paddock and get ready for the trip and the races."
Morgan said Brazen Beau would run in either the King's Stand or the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting.
"We haven't ruled either one out," he said.
"It will be on or the other.
"He has to travel there but he is such a relaxed horse we don't think there will be any problems.
"Jo Moreira will be riding in whichever race he runs in."
The Hong Kong-based Moreira has ridden Brazen Beau three times for a perfect strike rate, winning the Group Two Roman Consul Stakes in the spring in addition to the Coolmore and Newmarket.
