Confederate showed that he was a gelding with a lot of upside during his first preparation and yesterday's win when resuming at Warwick Farm suggested that his owners may be in for another successful preparation with this talented 3 year old gelding by Charge Forward. Of interest, Confederate is a great grandson of super mare, Let's Elope.
Living up to the name of his sire, Confederate jumped quickly from the barriers and 'charged forward' to take up the running. Apprentice Winona Costin elected to have the gelding in the centre of the track, seeking the best ground in the final race of the day, given the rating of a heavy 8 track. He travelled comfortably throughout the 1,150 metres of the event and rounding for home, Confederate never really looked in doubt, hitting the line strongly to win by 0.2 lengths.
Congratulations to winning Confederate owners Francis Kennedy, Barbara Kennedy, David McLeish, Maureen McLeish, Tom Hastings, Mark Hastings, Anne Howlett, Melissa Bell, Robin Sledge
