Multiple Brisbane premiership winning jockey Michael Cahill hopes to make his return to race riding at Doomben this weekend.
Cahill has been a scratching from the past two Saturdays after having minor surgery.
"It was nothing to worry about the doctor just did some repair. But he said it was best to rest for a couple of weeks," Cahill said.
"There was a suggestion I stay out for three weeks but I should be right to return to race riding on Saturday. It should be busy over Easter."
Cahill has ridden 40 winners overall this season and is seventh in the Brisbane premiership on 27 wins.
Meanwhile, apprentice Cassie Schmidt outrode her three kilogram claim in the metropolitan area when He Don't Care won at Doomben on Saturday.
Schmidt has ridden 196 winners overall and is one of the busiest jockeys in Australia riding in south east Queensland and the NSW Northern Rivers.
"Things have been going well and I just hope they keep going now I am down to two kilograms," Schmidt said.
"A lot of the trainers have been supporting me and it is a help to get on good horses."
The younger sister of successful apprentice Priscilla Schmidt, Cassie Schmidt won last year's Ipswich apprentice title.
