The training team at Lindsay Park has ordered the removal of blinkers in an effort to spark Jacquinot Bay into winning form in the Easter Cup at Caulfield.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said Jacquinot Bay had been over-racing in the headgear over shorter distances and he hopes the move will help the gelding to relax.

Jacquinot Bay will be lining-up for his 15th run of his campaign since joining Lindsay Park after starting his racing career with the late Guy Walter.

He will be stepping up to 2000m for the first time since running fifth in the David Jones Cup at Caulfield last spring.

Dabernig said Saturday's performance would determine whether his campaign goes past the Easter Cup.

"He had been on a winning streak prior to his last couple, so out to 2000 metres he's got that great residual fitness," Dabernig said.

"We've taken the blinkers off him as he's been sitting handy at a mile but he's been a little bit aggressive at his last two.

"He's also at that stage of his preparation where Saturday will determine whether he'll go for a spell or press on.

"He's very sound and fit and in good order so there's no reason to say he can't run well."

Jacquinot Bay is rated a $7 chance in a race which has already been reduced by one runner following the scratching of last year's winner Our Voodoo Prince.

The Lindsay Park team will be represented by Gracious Prospect in the day's other feature, the Group Three Victoria Handicap over 1400m.

Drawn well in barrier three, Gracious Prospect is on the third line of betting at $8 behind the $3.60 favourite Disposition.

"He's been in great form and has always been around the money," Dabernig said.

"He should sit right on the pace and and get a good run in that field from barrier three."
