Apprentice Brandon Stockdale landed a milestone win when Oncebittentwiceshy scored narrowly at Sandown on Wednesday.
It was the 16 year-old's first day of riding in the metropolitan area and just his second city ride when he guided the $61 outsider Oncebittentwiceshy to an upset.
Earlier in the day Stockdale had ridden the $26 chance High Call into third place.
Apprenticed to his father Frank, a former champion jumps jockey, young Stockdale has been riding in races since August.
"Mum and dad and my little sister Frankie have all brought me down here today," Stockdale said.
"It's great to get a win at my first Melbourne meeting, especially with all the family here."
Stockdale had to wait until his country claim had been reduced to 2kg and have a minimum of 200 race rides before heading to the metropolitan area.
The victory aboard Oncebittentwiceshy was his 23rd career with Stockdale also winning on the galloper at Warrnambool and Stony Creek.
Stockdale said Oncebittentwiceshy's trainer Mark Stephenson had been a great supporter through the early stages of career and it was fantastic to repay him with a city win.
