Prolific country winner Executed is poised to erase memories of his only failure when ventures to Doomben on Saturday.
The much-travelled Executed has won eight times and been second three times from his 12 starts.
The winner of $251,800 in prize money and bonus payments, Executed has won in Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton as well as being placed at Doomben, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba.
His unplaced run was when 11th in a three-year-old race at Doomben in October.
However, trainer Krystle Johnston has no doubt Executed is a far better horse than that run indicated.
"He drew wide and was caught very deep the whole way. He was really knocked around and we had to spell him," Johnstone said.
"He has come back well and won his two runs back from the spell. I have no doubt Executed is up to city class and I hope he shows it on Saturday."
Executed has drawn the outside barrier in The Professor Geoff McKellar Memorial (1200m) on Saturday but Johnston believes he has the early pace to overcome it.
"There is some pace inside him and he should be able to get across and get a sit with some cover."
Executed carried 61.5kg when he won at Rockhampton two weeks ago but drops to 54.5kg on Saturday after Matt McGillivray's 3kg claim.
