Brisbane Race Club officials remain hopeful Saturday's Doomben meeting will go ahead.
Doomben was soaked with 40mm of rain on Thursday night which was on top of the 111mm the track had received since Wednesday morning.
Track manager Jim Roberts walked the course proper on Thursday morning.
"The penetrometer was 6.6 which is the highest I can ever remember it being," Roberts said.
"But we did have some luck on Thursday with the sun coming out for a few hours."
He said if the heavy rain stayed away there was a good chance the meeting would go ahead.
Chief steward Allan Reardon will inspect the track at 5.30am on Saturday and make a final decision on the meeting.
The Sunshine Coast, which races on Sunday, and Beaudesert, scheduled for Monday, are no in danger at this stage.
