Trainer John Sadler is looking for some of Sydney's wet weather to filter down to Melbourne for Charmed Harmony.
The experienced wet tracker is engaged in the Sandown Park (UK) Handicap over 1200m on the Sandown Lakeside course on Monday.
While the Sandown Hillside track came under fire on Wednesday, the Lakeside track with the rail in the true position, is expected to perform better.
Charmed Harmony has a perfect record on the Lakeside course from two starts with both wins coming at 1400 metres.
While Monday's race is 200m shorter, Sadler is confident the gelding will perform well, providing there is a bit of give in the track.
Showers are forecast for Melbourne on Monday.
"As long as there's a little bit of moisture he'll run but he won't be running on a firm track," Sadler said.
"He's won at Sandown a couple of times and the 1200 metres is OK for him but 1400 metres is his best."
Charmed Harmony is burdened with the steadier of 63kg but with a 2kg claim for Sadler's son Tom, the gelding will carry 61kg.
Sadler said it was not ideal to be carrying such a weight but added there was a lack of suitable races for a horse on his rating.
"He shouldn't be in the race," Sadler said.
"He really should be in a 0-90 or in a benchmark 84 race but there's just none of them around.
"And whenever they do have one, they get full fields, plus emergencies, plus ballots."
Charmed Harmony headed to Sydney in February for his first race for six months but but Sadler said it was a run that could be forgotten.
The gelding finished at the tail of the field but pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia after the race.
"He's fresh and well and if we get sting in the ground he'll be competitive," Sadler said.
