Chief steward Terry Bailey wants answers from the Melbourne Racing Club officials after the Sandown track again came in for criticism from jockeys on Monday.
The surface at Sandown has been under scrutiny in recent weeks and Bailey said it was below par on Monday for racing on the Lakeside course.
"The feedback from the riders throughout the day was that horses were not confident on the ground," Bailey said.
"A lot of horses weren't getting traction.
"We did remedial work after race three and race seven to different sections of the track.
"We'll be speaking with the club again in the morning to find a solution. Whatever that is."
