Lonnero the son of champion racehorse Lonhro won his 2nd race yesterday for leading syndicator BlueBlood Thoroughbreds. Trained by Gerald Ryan and ridden by Lester Grace, the gelding took out Race 8 at Newcastle with ease by 1.50 length.
Ridden very smartly by Grace from his gate, Lonnero took a forward position and lead from start to finish with a lot up his sleeve. What was even more impressive is that the track was not favouring the front runners and showed bias all day from runners running on from the back. It was a great training effort from Gerald Ryan who has team up with successful syndicator BlueBlood Thoroughbreds in the last 12 months.
It may be time for Lonnero to have a crack at mid week city class over a distance that looks likely to suit being 1400m and beyond. Either way the flashy gelding looks like there is more wins ahead.
