Trainer Roger James will decide on Saturday if top staying mare Silent Achiever returns to Australia to race during the Queensland winter carnival.
James spoke with Brisbane Race Club officials on Monday and confirmed a Queensland visit was on the cards for the six-year-old mare.
Silent Achiever is expected to contest the Hollindale Stakes and Doomben Cup.
The 2012 Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon will chase the same double.
Silent Achiever returned to New Zealand after finishing sixth to Hartnell in the Group One BMW Stakes at Rosehill on March 28.
Melbourne filly Srikandi will run in the Listed Silk Stocking, a race she won last year, to kick off her winter.
Srikandi was the find of last year's winter carnival, running third in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap.
Group One-winning jockey Damian Browne is expected to ride Srikandi at the Gold Coast.
Meanwhile, Racing Queensland launched the winter carnival at a function in Brisbane with hopes the recent doom and gloom surrounding the local industry will be lifted.
Queensland's main racecourse Eagle Farm is still closed and the carnival burden will be shared between the Doomben, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Ipswich.
For the first time, Group One races the BTC Cup, Doomben Cup, Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks and Stradbroke Handicap will be run at Doomben.
The Group One Tatts Tiara will be run at the Gold Cost on June 20.
Racing Queensland chief executive Darren Condon said a record amount of prize money would be on offer for the carnival.
"A new wagering deal with TattsBet set the scene for a revamped carnival and this year is the first step in developing a carnival that will put Queensland right up there," Condon said.
