The Canterbury race meeting scheduled for Wednesday will go ahead 24 hours later as Sydney racing officials bank on a break in the weather.
The program was postponed on Wednesday morning due to the wild conditions which have caused flash flooding and damage across areas of Sydney, the central coast and the Hunter region.
The original fields for Canterbury remain the same with the first of seven races to start at 1.08pm (AEST) on Thursday.
The meeting set down for Newcastle on the same afternoon has been called off after 155mm of rain waterlogged parts of the Broadmeadow track.
