Art Sherman set for Chrome reunion

Thursday 23 April 2015, 9:21am

American trainer Art Sherman is due to arrive in England soon to oversee the preparation of California Chrome for a possible tilt at the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

California Chrome is currently in the care of Rae Guest ahead of a run at Royal Ascot, but whether he turns up at Newbury first has still to be decided.

Winner of last year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, he was second in the Dubai World Cup to Prince Bishop last month.

"He's in great form and it's a pleasure to have him," Guest said.

"We are just getting him up to racing speed, but he seems to be enjoying his time with us.

"Art Sherman is going to be here by the end of next week, I think, and we'll give the horse a proper gallop and see where we go from there."
