Colin Alderson received extra satisfaction out of the win of My Popette at Flemington on Saturday.
The two-year-old was bred by his wife Lyn who also shares in the ownership of the Snippetson filly, winner of the Anzac Day Stakes (1400m).
Alderson said he's satisfied with the success he has enjoyed with young horses during the season.
The stable's run started with Mihalic winning at Flemington in October while Miss Gidget, another filly bred by his wife, raced consistently during the autumn.
Ridden by Mark Zahra, My Popette, backed from $7 into $5 equal favouritism, scored by a length from Lizard Island ($8.50) with Petracca ($5) a half length away third.
"She's a Listed winner now which is a plus," Alderson said.
"Her mother (Brompton's Choice) has a spider bite on a leg and it blows up like an elephant.
"I was down on my knees this morning bandaging that up trying to keep her in one piece.
"Now (My Popette) has won I'll keep trying harder."
Alderson said it was likely My Popette had done enough for her campaign but he wouldn't make a final call until he sees how she comes through the run.
"It was a good win and hopefully she might go on and measure up in the spring," he said.
