The Hawkes stable will consider extending the winter carnival campaign of Nostradamus after he won the Gold Coast Guineas on Saturday.
Co-trainer Michael Hawkes said Nostradamus needed to perform well at the Gold Coast for several reasons.
"He's always had the ability but what he has between his legs was making him think about things," Hawkes said.
"Winning today has given him a reprieve from being gelded and he also got a good track so it really was D-day for him to perform.
"He was going home tomorrow night but we'll decide in the next 24 hours if we decide to stay on for other races during the carnival."
Nostradamus was beaten on a heavy track at Randwick at his previous start but Hawkes said the firmer surface at the Gold Coast proved a bonus.
"The trip away has really brought him on and the dry track and perfect barrier made all the difference," he said.
Nostradamus gave the Hawkes stable the second leg of a race-to-race double after Zeebaz won the Group Two Hollindale Stakes.
