Flemington stipes suspend Payne, Bayliss

Saturday 25 April 2015, 6:18pm

Racing Victoria stewards have suspended jockey Michelle Payne and apprentice Jake Bayliss at Flemington.

Bayliss was suspended for seven meetings on a breach of the whip rule after finishing second on Boomwaa in the final event on Saturday.

Bayliss used the whip 10 times, five more than allowed before the 100m.

Chief steward Terry Bailey said Bayliss had been put on notice for his whip use at Seymour on April 15.

He is free to ride next Saturday.

Payne was suspended for 11 meetings for careless riding aboard Gingie.

She is seeking a release from her mounts at Pakenham on Sunday and Kyneton on Monday to allow her to return for the second day of the Warrnambool carnival on May 6.
