Robbie Laing has turned his Group One attention to Adelaide with sprinter Lord Of The Sky now set to run in the Goodwood.

Lord Of The Sky almost caused a major upset in the $2.5 million TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick earlier this month when he was claimed late by Chautauqua to go down by a nose.

The Cranbourne-based Laing had planned to give Lord Of The Sky a spell and bring him back for the late season weight-for-age sprints in Melbourne and had also considered a Brisbane trip for the Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 6.

But with the Goodwood a set weights and penalties event, Lord Of The Sky will be nicely placed as a Group Three winner in the 1200m race at Morphettville on May 16.

Laing said a Group One win was what prospective studs were looking for on Lord Of The Sky's resume.

"We had a few studs saying they were inches off picking up the phone and making good offers, so what he needs is to win a Group One," Laing said.

"Every man and his dog is going for the Stradbroke and I'd hate to go up there and diminish the value that he's now got."

Laing said Lord Of The Sky should get into the Goodwood one or two kilograms above the minimum but would have carried 58kg if he was a Group One winner.

He said Lord Of The Sky had blossomed after spending time at the beach following his return from Sydney.

"He doesn't do well in the paddock," Laing said.

"We've kept him at home and have been poking around down at the beach and in the last few days he's really done a treat."

On the same day as Lord Of The Sky contests the Goodwood, Laing will be sending Boomwaa to NSW to run in the Scone Guineas (1400m).

Boomwaa was beaten in the last stride at Flemington over 1200m on Saturday by Perth galloper Mr Utopia.
