The Hawkesbury race meeting has been called off after one race with jockeys concerned about a section of the track.

Christian Reith's mount, Proper Madam, broke down in the first race prompting a second inspection of the track which has been hit by rain this week.

Steward Marc Van Gestel said a section between the 900 and 400 metres was a particular concern and safety was paramount.
