Sydney sprinter entered for Flemington

Heavy rain across NSW in recent weeks days has forced many trainers to come up with alternative plans for their horses with Gary Portelli eyeing a start in Melbourne for I'm All The Talk.

The sprinter was supposed to run at Saturday's Hawkesbury meeting as a lead-up to a race at Scone on Saturday week.

But the Hawkesbury meeting was washed out and Portelli has entered I'm All The Talk for the All Victorian Sprint Series Heat 2 over 1100m at Flemington on Saturday.

The gelding ran sixth in the Group One Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield in February and hasn't raced since finishing sixth in the Maurice McCarten Stakes at Rosehill on March 14.

He won a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on April 24 and Portelli said the gelding's trackwork and the make-up of the field would determine whether I'm All The Talk made the trip south.

"We were supposed to go a fortnight from Hawkesbury to Scone, but then the Scone race might be a pretty tough race as well," Portelli said.

"If it looked like he might be able to get through the first 400 metres at a nice easy gallop I might give him a crack.

"It will be his first try down the straight so ideally we would like it to be as easy as possible."

Portelli said wet tracks in Sydney were not a factor in entering I'm All The Talk for Flemington.

"He handles the wet all right. It's just there wasn't a suitable race for him in Sydney this weekend," Portelli said.

Boomwaa is among the 28 nominations for the race with Robbie Laing also entering him for the rescheduled Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Guineas and the Darley Crown have been salvaged from Hawkesbury with both increased from 1300 to 1400 metres.
