The victory of Silverball in the Lord Mayors Cup at Rosehill gave the Peter Moody stable some extra confidence ahead of Kenjorwood's victory at Flemington on Saturday.
Kenjorwood and Silverwood finished third and fourth respectively in a 1700m race behind The Bowler at Flemington on April 25.
Moody's racing manager Jeff O'Connor said the gelding had been behind in his preparation leading into that race.
Ridden by apprentice Regan Bayliss, Kenjorwood, the $2.40 favourite, scored a five-length win over dead-heaters Digitalism ($10) and Longeron ($4.20) in The Momentum Energy Trophy.
"I thought we were half a run behind The Bowler and Silverball and those kind of horses and it was a good confidence booster seeing Silverball win," O'Connor said.
"This race looked perfect for him."
Moody earlier scored with stable newcomer Killarney Kid who was having his first start since arriving from New Zealand.
Ridden by Glen Boss, Killarney Kid ($8) scored by 1-1/4 lengths in the May Handicap.
