Kuro passed an important test with flying colours as the three-year-old continued a domination of Sydney horses in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate at Doomben on Saturday.
Kuro ($4.60) was the sixth Sydney-trained galloper to win after he beat Sarajevo ($7.50) by a long neck with a head to Deiheros ($11) in third place.
The gelding had run second in the Group One Galaxy at Rosehill on March 21 but had failed when eighth in the Arrowfield Stakes at his next start on April 11 on a heavy track.
"We were worried after his run on the wet track last month," Champion Thoroughbreds syndicate spokesman Jason Abrahams said.
"Now he has won we will be looking at continuing on in the winter carnival.
"But how high we set the bar will depend on how the horse comes up and what Joe (trainer Pride) decides to do."
Winning jockey Craig Williams said while Kuro had run second in the Galaxy his win in the Dittman Plate would do his confidence the world of good.
Kuro's win lifted his prize money past $410,000 which should ensure his place in the major races.
The tally for Sydney horses was made up of a treble for the Peter and Paul Snowden training team, a double for Chris Waller and a win for Gai Waterhouse.
