James Innes will swap his role as an apprentice jockey for Godolphin for life in a bush stable after he tries to bid a temporary farewell to Sydney racing with a winner on Wednesday.

The son of former top jockey Jamie Innes, the youngster will finish the season on loan to Dubbo trainer Peter Nestor as part of John O'Shea's plan to finetune his apprentice before the start of 2015-2016.

Innes will join Nestor on Thursday, and starting on Friday he will ride at Scone, Coonamble, Parkes and Tamworth on consecutive days.

But first he will be out to continue a winning association with the Matthew Smith-trained Royal Adventure in the TAB Place Multi Handicap at Canterbury.

Innes won on the mare at Warwick Farm and he was in the saddle again when she landed a $9 to $5 betting move at Canterbury a fortnight later.

Smith says he can't find a reason why Royal Adventure can't bring up a city hat-trick despite going up in distance.

"I've got no doubt she'll run the race right out," he said.

Royal Adventure was trained by Rod Craig and Smith is thankful she has arrived at his stable at the right time of her career.

"Rod said to me that if I got her right she would win city races and that's the way it's turned out.

"I've just found with mares over the years you can't train them into fitness. You just can't think 'I'm going to hammer this and get it fit'.

"Generally, I find that mares don't show it in their work. The better they work means they have probably gone off.

"When they are relaxed and doing it within themselves, that's when you know they are ready to go and that's been the case with Royal Adventure."

Bookmakers have Royal Adventure a clear-cut favourite at $2.60 to continue her winning streak.

The midweek meeting will be notable for the debut of Claim The Throne, a two-year-old three-quarter brother to recently retired Group One winner Hallowed Crown.

Claim The Throne has drawn off the track in the TAB Rewards Maiden Plate but was given an easy time in a Randwick barrier trial on April 13.
