Drawing off the track in the Goodwood has done nothing to dent the confidence of trainer Darren Weir about the chances of Lucky Hussler.
The son of Husson has drawn barrier 11 in the 17-horse field on Saturday with punters also sharing the trainer's confidence as the gelding is the third favourite at $6.50 behind the $4.40 favourite Hucklebuck.
Weir said Lucky Hussler was in good condition after coming off a sixth placing in the All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 18.
That run left the gelding a little jaded with Weir deciding on altering Lucky Hussler's program after he was originally heading to Brisbane for last week's BTC Cup at Doomben.
Lucky Hussler holds a nomination for the Doomben 10,000 on May 23 and the Stradbroke Handicap at Doomben on June 6.
Noted track walker Peter Ellis, who has helped Weir plot courses to win big races in recent years, will head to Morphettville on Saturday to find the best going for Lucky Hussler and jockey Glen Boss on a track already rated a slow six.
"He gets back anyway so the barrier won't worry him at all," Weir said.
"Providing he runs well on Saturday he will then go up to Brisbane and run in the Stradbroke."
Weir said stablemate Vain Attraction would head to Adelaide to run in the Proud Miss Stakes rather than the PFD Fresh To Go Handicap at Caulfield.
He said Vain Attraction was nearing the end of her career and connections are keen to get some black type before retiring her to stud.
