Glyn Schofield has tipped a bright future for Canterbury winner Bring A Secret, a two-year-old which could bolster trainer Nick Olive's Brisbane carnival team.

Schofield says the youngster already has the physique of a good racehorse but needs to mature mentally to be the complete package.

"He's like a six foot, two (inches) kid in grade six. He's all legs and size," Schofield said.

"When his age catches up to his body he'll be a lovely horse."

Olive is hoping that might happen sooner rather than later.

The Canberra trainer, who plans to run Black Opal Stakes placegetter Single Gaze in the BTC Sires' Produce Stakes at Doomben on Saturday week, said Bring A Secret could join his stablemate in Queensland if he continued to improve.

"He's nominated for Brisbane, for the big races there, so we will see how he progresses but he's got to progress a bit further to think of that," Olive said.

"I've had a good opinion of the horse from day one."

Lining up for his third start in the TAB Rewards Maiden Plate, Bring A Secret was slow to jump but quickly mustered speed to trail the leading division.

Despite cornering awkwardly, he sprinted clear to score by 1-1/4 lengths over Coys with Shards doing his best work late to finish another half head away third.

Ocean Grand could also be Brisbane-bound after breaking his maiden in the All Too Hard @ Vinery Handicap for Cliff Bashford.

The win marked a rare visit to town for the country-based Bashford who is best known for training Cangronde, a top sprinter during the 1990s.

Bashford couldn't recall his last Sydney winner but said it was probably Steel City who claimed the Listed Razor Sharp Handicap in 2000.

"The best is yet to come with this horse," Bashford said.

"He's been slow to mature. He's a late foal and he still doesn't know what it's all about.

"I'm thinking about Brisbane towards the tail-end of the carnival."

Godolphin had a mixed afternoon with Grunderzeit posting a win before their day soured when two of their three runners were scratched at the barrier a race later.

Earlier in the day, Godolphin announced the retirement of 2014 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake.
