The remarkable comeback story of Landlocked has continued at the Sunshine Coast.
The eight-year-old, raced by businessman Gerry Harvey, won Saturday's Summerveld Racing Stables Hcp (1800m) for trainer Joe Cleary.
The winner of three races for Sydney trainer Anthony Cummings, Landlocked lost form last year and Harvey intended to retire him.
He changed his mind and decided to give him another chance in a country atmosphere and sent him to Cleary in Queanbeyan.
Cleary has rejuvenated Landlocked who has won seven races in his care including the Wagga, Queanbeyan, and Gunnedah Cups.
"They were going to retire him but Claire Bird (Harvey's racing manager) sent me a text to see if I would take him for one more campaign," Cleary said.
"He has really enjoyed the country life and he has given us some real thrills.
"We have had a lot of fun with him and I reckon there is more to come.
"It is great to win a race with those colours.
"I reckon I have earned the dining room table from Gerry and now for a flat screen television."
Landlocked was backed from $4.40 to $3.80 before winning by 1-1/4 lengths to Darci Be Good ($12) with 1-1/2 lengths to third placed Billy Aucash ($21).
Cleary said Landlocked would run in an 1800m race at the Gold Coast in a fortnight as a lead up to the Ipswich Cup (2150m) on June 13.
Meanwhile, tiny mare Little Brown Horse ($8) will chase black type races after scoring her 12th victory in the Parklands Tavern Hcp (1400m).
"She isn't very big but she tries so hard," trainer Kelly Doughty said.
"Little Brown horse will probably chase races such as the Dane Ripper Stakes (at Doomben) and Gai Waterhouse Stakes (at Ipswich) during the winter.
"We would love to get black type for her as a broodmare."
