Leading Group One trainer Chris Waller has strengthened his grip on the Queensland Oaks with Winx now the firm favourite over stablemate Ballet Suite.
The two fillies have followed different paths to the Group One Oaks (2200m) with Winx travelling to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
Larry Cassidy brought the filly from last on the turn to score a comprehensive win in the Sunshine Coast Guineas.
Hugh Bowman, this season's leading Group One rider, takes over in the Oaks at Doomben on May 30.
Ballet Suite will take the traditional path to the Classic via Saturday's Doomben Roses.
Brisbane businessman Peter Tighe and his wife Patti are among the owners of Winx, runner-up to Gust Of Wind in the Australian Oaks last month.
The Tighes have already enjoyed success at the highest level this season as part-owners of the Waller-trained Victoria Derby winner Preferment.
But Tighe would like nothing more than a Group One win on his home turf and believes Winks showed in the Guineas she could be the one to do it.
"I thought she was a bit far behind them. But she was the best horse in the race and she won like it," Tighe said.
"It was a great Oaks trial. She was too good," he added.
Winx is at $2.25 for the Oaks with Ballet Suite at $7.
Waller also has the Queensland Derby favourite, Sadler's Lake who is the TAB's $5 favourite ahead of Master Of Arts and Winx at $7.50.
The John Zielke-trained Worthy Cause is a $10 chance after his third behind Winx on Saturday.
Jockey Justin Stanley said Worthy Cause raced a little fresh and was more forward than he had expected.
Worthy Cause will have his next start in the Group Three Grand Prix Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.
