Smart filly Lumosty is not the only Robert Smerdon-trained three-year-old out to confirm Queensland carnival plans at Flemington on Saturday.
Lumosty is an odds-on favourite in Saturday's Listed Straight Six (1200m), with the race planned as a stepping stone to feature races in Brisbane.
The Group One Stradbroke Handicap is on the radar for Lumosty but if she doesn't make the field Smerdon plans to run her in the Dane Ripper Stakes en route to the Group One Tattersall's Tiara.
Stablemate Warrior King is another in line for a potential trip to Brisbane and will be out to maintain an unbeaten start to his career in Saturday's Henry Bolte Handicap (1600m).
The colt has impressed in wins at Geelong and Warrnambool and is on trial for a Group Two Queensland Guineas start.
Kaizaen resumes in Saturday's Trevor Clarke Handicap (1200m) for three-year-old fillies, her first start since unplaced in an 1800m Listed race at Flemington in October.
Smerdon said Kaizaen pulled up sore after that race and was sent for a spell.
Kaizaen boasts a win over subsequent Thousand Guineas winner Amicus last spring and Smerdon said the filly had been a bit of a surprise package.
"I never had much of an opinion of her early but every time we've trialled her or asked her to do something she has come out and done really well," he said.
"She went to the trials the other day and her trial was terrific in very heavy ground at Cranbourne. While her form is over a bit further there's no reason why she can't run a big race based on what we saw at the trials."
