A change of scenery has brought improved fortunes for Mark Young as Dynamic Day broke her maiden status at Flemington on Saturday.
Young has shifted his training base from Colac to Rosemont Stud at Lara with Dynamic Day his first winner since moving.
The victory in the Victorian Carbine Club Plate (1400m) was Young's first Flemington winner in more than six years.
Ridden by Dean Yendall, Dynamic Day was a betting drifter from $19 to $41 before scoring by 1-3/4 lengths over Manhattan Light ($41) with Top Ravine ($7) three quarters of a length away third.
Young said a move to Colac 10 years ago, where he had a private training track, didn't bring results.
Rosemont Stud has facilities to cater for 50 horses and Young expects to be taking a much fitter team to the races.
"They've got a water walker and a treadmill, a 1000-metre track that you can do a bit of work on and then we can go into Geelong to gallop," Young said.
Young said the victory was a great result for connections who had been a part of his stable for 25 years.
Dynamic Day is tipped to improve as her races get longer.
"We've always thought she would be a miler, a 2000-metre horse and she's always had a bit of a turn of foot as well," Young said.
"Now that she's a Saturday city winner, the idea now is to try and find some black type as we also own the dam with Rosemont."
