Clarry Conners won his first BRC Sires' Produce Stakes on Saturday, but most of the credit for Look To The Stars' victory went to apprentice Luke Tarrant.

Conners said Tarrant's ride deserved special mention as the young rider put aside having to front stewards after the Grand Prix Stakes to produce a fine piece of horsemanship.

"Things worked out very well for us and it was a good effort," Tarrant said.

Look To The Stars ($17) held on bravely to beat Blueberry Hill ($4.40) by a short neck with outsider Cylinder Beach ($101) 1-1/2 lengths back in third in the Group Two race.

The Warwick Farm-based Conners has won the Golden Slipper four times and the Sydney juvenile triple crown twice with Tierce and Burst.

He has also won the JJ Atkins, Brisbane's only Group One two-year-old race, twice with Mossman and Apercu.

However, it was his first Sires' win in more than 30 years of bringing horses to Brisbane.

"It must be mismanagement on my part that I have never won a Sires' before," Conners joked.

But he was deadly serious when praising Look to the Stars and Tarrant.

"She has been up a long time but she seems to be taking it well," Conners said.

Look To the Stars gave the Darby Racing syndicate its second BRC Sires' in a row after it won last year with Time For War.

The filly cost $26,000 at the Scone yearling sale and has now won $222,000 in prize money.

Larry Cassidy was convinced Blueberry Hill should have won.

"Swap the barriers and we win for sure. I was caught three deep and she is such a competitor I had to go earlier than I wanted," Cassidy said.

Trainer Desleigh Forster was thrilled with the run of Cylinder Beach who was specked from $201.
