Star apprentice Luke Tarrant could miss the most important meeting of the winter carnival after being charged with reckless and careless riding at Doomben on Saturday.
He was suspended for eight meetings on a careless riding charge but faces a further suspension if found guilty of reckless riding.
Tarrant was seen at his best to win the Group Two BRC Sires' Produce Stakes on Look To The Stars but his day was soured when he faced two charges for his ride in the Group Three Rough Habit Plate.
Stewards alleged Tarrant, who rode Jumbo Prince, recklessly caused interference in the first 100m of the race.
Tarrant successfully asked for the charge hearing to be adjourned to allow his master Frank Phillips to help with his case.
The hearing will resume on Tuesday.
However, Tarrant pleaded guilty to careless riding, again on Jumbo Prince, at the winning post the first time.
He was suspended for eight meetings, starting Wednesday night and ending on June 8.
Unless he appeals, Tarrant will miss the ride on Look To The Stars in the Group One JJ Atkins Stakes and possible mounts in the $2 million Stradbroke Handicap on June 6.
Meanwhile, Adelaide rider Joe Bowditch was suspended for seven meetings starting on June 3 when another suspension expires.
Bowditch pleaded guilty to causing interference in the straight in the first race.
He will be eligible to resume riding after June 13.
